  Data characteristics The EDP dataset include data on government debt and deficit reported under the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP).
  Short presentation of data items Eurostat, on behalf of the Commission, is responsible for assessing the quality of the EDP statistics transmitted by Member States. The methodology is based on the European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010), which has the status of an EU Regulation, and on Eurostat's Manual of Government Deficit and Debt (MGDD), as well as Eurostat's decisions and guidance notes.
